MAY MY CHILD NEVER BE BEHOLDEN TO OTHERS

SIGNORE, FA CHE MIO FIGLIO NON SI SENTA IN OBBLIGO CON ALTRI CHE TE

When I stood this plane on its end, it reminded me of the crucifix, complete with a stake. Jesus was made to carry his own cross, the tool of his death. These hands of Mary Magdalene gripping the cross express his mother’s desperation and despair. A Jewish woman’s prayer “May my child never be beholden to others,” failed Mary as her son became beholden to the world’s sins.
