Drawn from the Water

Miriam witnessed Moses being drawn from the water and protected her baby brother who would lead the Jews to freedom. She is the ladle, symbol of nurturing, sustenance, survival and abundance. The Rabbis tell of a miraculous well linked to Miriam that sustained the Israelites in the desert. Today the legend of Miriam's well is interpreted as the source of women's spirituality, creativity and wisdom that replenishes all wells at the end of the Sabbath. Through Miriam and her well, we can dip into this unlimited source of female spirituality.
